A civilian and a Pakistani army soldier were martyred in a suicide blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, the army’s media wing said on Thursday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the blast took place in the general area of Miran Shah on Wednesday.
He identified the martyred soldier as 30-year-old Havaldar Muhammad Amir, a resident of Mianwali.
ISPR further said that one civilian was martyred and nine others were injured in the blast.
President and Prime Minister condemned suicide bombing
According to JEE News, President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have condemned the blast.
President Alavi expressed his determination to continue efforts until the remnants of terrorism are eradicated. He further said that the entire nation is united in the fight against terrorism.
He condoled with the bereaved families of those martyred in the incident and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
In a separate statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the services of the people and the security forces for the eradication of terrorism in the country.
Strongly condemning the suicide blast, the Prime Minister said that terrorists are playing in the hands of our enemies who want to destabilize Pakistan.
The Prime Minister expressed his determination to punish those criminals who shed the blood of Pakistani people. He expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of security personnel and civilians and also condoled with the bereaved families.
He also paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.

On the other hand, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, while condemning the blast, expressed concern over the performance of the PTI government regarding the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“We will pursue the terrorists and defeat their nefarious intentions,” the minister said in a Twitter statement.

Sana said that Pakistan’s security forces are fully capable of thwarting terrorist activities. The sacrifices of the martyrs will not go in vain, the nation stands with its security forces.
