ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has the full support of the leadership of the coalition government on the appointment of Chief of Army Staff and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff on Wednesday.
The meeting with the allied parties was held on a one-point agenda.
During the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former president and co-chairman of PPP Asif Ali Zardari announced his support for the prime minister and said that he is the prime minister and the constitution has given him this authority and privilege.
Muslim League (Q) supremo Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain told Prime Minister Shehbaz that the appointment decision was his “constitutional right”.
JUI(F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced his support to the prime minister.
He said in the meeting that whatever decision the Prime Minister takes, we stand with you.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of PML-N said that it is a matter of pride for the party that the Prime Minister has the full support of the coalition parties.
On this occasion Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Mian Sahib we are with you in every decision.
MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui supported the prime minister and appreciated his willingness to consult with allies.
Balochistan Awami Party’s Dr. Khalid Magsi said that whatever decision the Prime Minister takes, he stands “firmly” with him.
Aslam Bhutani, an independent coalition partner from Balochistan, told Prime Minister Shehbaz that he supported his decision.
Mohsin Dawar of the National Democratic Front said that the Prime Minister is authorized to make important appointments.
Qaumi Watan Party’s Aftab Khan Sherpao and Anti-Narcotics Minister Shah Zain Bugti both expressed confidence in the Prime Minister.
“The Constitution gives you responsibility. We support and endorse your decisions,” Bugti said during the meeting.
Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked the allied parties.
After the consultation meeting, Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that the leaders of the coalition parties have expressed full confidence in Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The coalition parties have entrusted the decision of the appointments to the Prime Minister. He thanked the Prime Minister for consulting him. Aurangzeb said after the meeting that the Prime Minister thanked him for his cooperation.
