Coke Studio singer Asad Abbas passed away after losing his battle with kidney disease.

Pakistani singer Asad Abbas, who was suffering from a critical kidney problem and needed financial help for his treatment, died on Tuesday after a long illness.

The singer underwent dialysis four days a week and appealed to the media industry, politicians and everyone for help in his treatment, saying he needed Rs 50 million for a kidney transplant.

“May Allah widen his grave and grant eternal peace to Asad Abbas,” Abbas’s Facebook account said.

Singer Sohail Haider also confirmed the news of his death on Facebook. “And another gem of a war lost. RIP Asad Abbas,” he wrote on his account.

Fellow singers and artistes, including actor Adnan Siddiqui, appealed to everyone to help the ailing Coke Studio singer for a kidney transplant.

“Asad Abbas has graced our lives with his beautiful voice, captivated our hearts with his soulful performances and musical genius. Sadly, behind the curtain of his immense talent, he is today a personal Fighting a war that has left them in dire financial straits.

“He is currently suffering from a critical kidney problem, which has not only affected his health but also created a significant financial burden,” the actor wrote in his Instagram post.

Asking people to come forward to help the singer as much as possible, Siddiqui wrote: “In times like these we, as a community, need to come together to support someone who has given us countless moments. As artists too, it is our responsibility to stand with fellow artists and help them in their time of need.

“I appeal to each of you to do whatever you can to help Asad Abbas during this difficult time. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will ease his financial burden. Doing and focusing on will make a significant difference. His recovery and return to doing what he loves most – creating beautiful music.”

Abbas turned to the people and asked them to help him in the transplant.

“I undergo dialysis four days a week and my health is very bad. I request my media industry, politicians and everyone who sees that I have served my country, I am the winner of Sangeet Icon. Yes, I have won Lux Style. Award, I have performed at Coke Studio and I got Pride of Pakistan award […] I need 50 million rupees for transplant.”

The singer was a part of Coke Studio Season 6 and sang Mahi Gaal with Fareeha Parvez.
