Paris: Dance legends Daft Punk may have hung up their robotic helmets last year, but they’re hoping to develop a new generation of fans with the launch of their TikTok channel on Monday.
The deal with TikTok means users will have access to the French duo’s back catalog to use in their videos for the first time.
Since the beginning of their career in the 1990s, Daft Punk — aka Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Hommes Cristo — have retained all rights to their music.
That means they weren’t included in the deals that TikTok made in recent years with record companies to license music to the platform, which required a direct deal with the band.
Starting Tuesday, fans will also be able to use two new filters for their videos, giving them a customizable robot helmet or the iconic Charlie the Dog, who first appeared in the 1997 video for director Spike Jonze’s “Da Funk.” were
Both will also post content on the channel, including elements of their careers from 1993 to 2011.
