Russian authorities say a gunman opened fire at a school in central Russia, killing at least 13 people and wounding 21 others.
Among the victims were seven children from a school of about 1,000 students in the city of Izhevsk.
The gunman killed himself at the scene. He was a former student of the school.
Russian media have posted videos showing panic inside the building where the shooting took place.
Some footage shows blood on classroom floors and bullet holes in windows, with children crouching under desks.
According to Russian officials, seven children and six adults were killed, including two security guards and two teachers. Staff and students have been evacuated from school buildings.
A local MP said the attacker – identified as Artem Kazantsev – was armed with two pistols.
A video posted online by the Investigative Committee shows the gunman lying dead on the floor wearing a T-shirt with a Nazi symbol and a balaclava. Investigators are searching his residence.
Mourning has been announced by the head of the region till September 29. A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was “deeply mourning” the attack.
The school is in the center of Izhevsk, a city of about 650,000 residents, near the central government buildings.
