Death toll due to torrential rains and wind in KP and Punjab has risen to 29

Severe weather conditions wreaked havoc in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab resulting in catastrophic loss of human lives and infrastructure.

Heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms wreaked havoc in the region, at least 25 people were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 4 people were killed in Punjab while more than 200 were injured.

The storm’s onslaught caused widespread destruction, including the collapse of walls, uprooting of trees and poles, resulting in power outages in many areas.

The Director General of Rescue reported that several incidents resulted in the collapse of roofs and walls of houses, resulting in the loss of lives of both children and women.

Director General Rescue announced that relief operations are going on rapidly in various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Kirk, Bannu and Lakki Marwat.

Sources say that several roads in Lakki Marwat were blocked due to fallen trees and poles and the power system was also disrupted.

More than 20 people, including women and children, were injured and were later shifted to the hospital. Tragically, three children and a woman are among the dead.
