ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) today (Monday) filed a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan challenging the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) order in the Tosha Khana reference case. will be heard.
On Friday, the ECP disqualified the former prime minister in the Toshakhana reference, saying he had committed corruption by “making false statements and submitting false declarations”.
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minullah will hear the case with the objections of the Registrar’s Office. PTI’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar filed the appeal on Saturday. The PTI Chairman has made the Secretary ECP, Speaker and Secretary of the National Assembly defendants in his petition.
However, the IHC Registrar’s Office raised several objections to the application. The objections included that PTI chief Imran Khan did not undergo biometric verification and a copy of the ECP decision disqualifying him (Imran Khan) was not attached to the petition.
Later, the IHC adjourned the hearing till Monday (today), rejecting PTI’s counsel’s request to fix the hearing on the same day. The petition said that according to the office memorandum, gifts worth less than 30 thousand rupees can be received without any payment, while gifts worth more than 30 thousand rupees can be received on payment of 50 percent of their amount.
Before the PTI came to power, gifts worth Rs 30,000 could be obtained on payment of 20 percent of their money, while former Prime Minister Imran Khan received 14 gifts on payment of 20 percent and 50 percent from 2018 to 2021. the amount
According to the Election Act, MPs have to submit the details of available assets in the ECP by June 30, while in case of selling any assets before June 30, they do not need to submit the details. However, it is mandatory to submit details of assets sold by them. The applicant submitted details of the value of his assets to the ECP every year.
