Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said everyone should pray for unity among judges in the Supreme Court and warned that “division” in the Supreme Court would be unfortunate as the Supreme Court’s verdict Related differences have emerged. The issue of delay in elections
Speaking to the media before the hearing in the Lahore High Court, the former prime minister said that division in the Supreme Court would be a tragedy for the country.
“Until we save the constitution, you cannot save the country,” the PTI chief said, criticizing the government for “running away from elections” and not caring about the constitution or the law.
Meanwhile, the LHC granted bail to Khan in a case registered against him for “endangering the families of army officers”.
During the hearing, Justice Najafi asked Khan’s lawyer whether his client wanted to appear in the concerned court for bail.
To which PTI chief’s lawyer replied that he wants to approach the concerned court.
He added that we are leaving for Islamabad on April 18 and we want to surrender in the concerned court.
The court then granted bail till April 26. Justice Ali Baqir Najafi directed the PTI chief to approach the concerned court by the next date.
A case against the former prime minister was registered on April 6 at Islamabad’s Ramna police station. The complaint was filed by Magistrate Manzoor Ahmed.
The First Information Report (FIR) said the PTI chief had used “inappropriate language” against army officers in a speech under Sections 500, 505 and 138 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The PTI chief, in his plea, said he was “absolutely innocent and was wrongly accused in the said case merely to tarnish his reputation, damage his growing mandate among the public and target him politically.” with ulterior motives and nefarious motives”.
“Being the head of the largest political party and aggrieved by such malpractice, the petitioner seeks the favor of this court to grant protective bail,” the petition said.
“A series of false criminal cases have been registered against him, PTI’s senior leadership and active participants for the past few months,” the ousted prime minister said.
He further said that PTI leaders have been subjected to custodial torture and humiliation in the past and this is another attempt by state workers.
“That is concerning the extraordinary and unexplained delay of (18) days in filing the instant case and questions the intention behind it. It appears that this time was carefully planned and used against the petitioner. was used to obtain directions to file a malicious case, only to appease his political opponents,” he said in the petition.
