A documentary focusing on former Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Khadim Hussain titled The Accused: Damned or Dedicated? Nominated for “Outstanding Merit in Documentary Filmmaking” at the Emmy Awards.
The film, directed by Mohammad Naqvi, focuses on his commitment to questioning authorities, especially those who manipulate faith for their own political agenda. The filmmaker is a three-time Emmy nominee with nominations and is a past recipient of a Television Academy Honor.
According to a statement, the nomination at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards is an extraordinary honor, emphasizing the importance of creating thought-provoking content that inspires meaningful change. The nomination in the “Extraordinary Merit in Documentary Filmmaking” category signifies the film’s compelling combination of cinematographic excellence and relevant social commentary.
Apart from Naqvi, Syed Musharraf Shah and Mohsin Abbas acted as co-producers in the film, while Madeeha Syed, Muhammad Sohail Rana and Rabia Arshad were associate producers.
“This film is a tribute to the people who trusted Naqvi, supported and trusted his work, and to whom he is eternally grateful,” the statement added.
