Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Thursday reiterated that there would be no delay in dissolving the Punjab Assembly (PA) on PTI chief Imran’s call.

This statement came when Elahi met Imran at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore. Former Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leaders Monis Elahi and Hussain Elahi were also present on this occasion.

Elahi is in power in Punjab thanks to the support of the PTI, whose chairman has announced plans to “drop the corrupt system and leave all assemblies”. However, PTI is yet to announce the date of dissolution of assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Over the weekend, Elahi allayed fears of any resistance from him to the move, admitting that he owed his government to Imran and would immediately follow his instructions. .

Taking to Twitter after his meeting with Imran today, Elahi reiterated the same and said: “There will not be a moment’s delay when Imran Khan asks to dissolve the PA.”

He further said that the provincial assembly belongs to Imran. We will support every decision of Imran. We fully support those with whom we choose to ally ourselves.

In another tweet, he reiterated that the Punjab government stands with Imran. “Those who create misunderstandings will fail like in the past. Imran Khan is indispensable for Pakistan,” said Chief Minister Elahi.

He also welcomed the idea of presenting a no-confidence motion in the provincial assembly on behalf of the opposition. “It will fail like the past.”

He said that the opposition has been defeated in Punjab before and will face the same in the future, adding that the opposition does not have the required numbers to pass the no-confidence motion.

Even Governor’s rule cannot be imposed when the PA is in session. My sincere advice to the opposition is to look at the Rules of Business of the Assembly before speaking,” Elahi said.

Separately, Monis said the PTI chief had been assured that the PA would be dissolved on his call.

The initial announcement to dissolve the assemblies came during a large PTI rally in Rawalpindi on November 26, Imran’s first public appearance since the assassination attempt on his life in Wazirabad.

“We will not be a part of this system. We have decided to leave all the assemblies and get out of this corrupt system and in this regard I will soon meet the parliamentary groups and consult with our chief ministers,” Imran Khan said. will
