Renowned Pakistani actor Qavi Khan died in Canada, where he was staying for treatment, Arts Council Karachi President Muhammad Ahmad Shah confirmed late Sunday night. He was 80 years old.
Shah said, “Qavi had been unwell recently. He prayed that Allah Almighty rests the soul of the deceased in mercy and gives the bereaved family members the courage to bear this irreparable loss with patience and fortitude. Give strength.
Appreciating the talent and talent of the late actor, Shah referred to him as a “great actor who left an indelible mark on the showbiz industry”.
Talking about his achievements, the President of the Arts Council said that Khan was honored with Satara Imtiaz, PTV Lifetime Achievement Award and Lifetime Achievement Award by Radio Pakistan.
Speaking to JEE News in Canada, the legendary actor’s son Adnan Qavi said that the timing of his father’s funeral prayers and other details will be announced later.
Awarded the President’s Award for Pride of Performance, the charismatic actor acted in nearly 200 films. He also performed in several super hit TV serials, radio and stage plays.
Condolences are pouring in.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of the incredible actor. He termed Khan’s death as an irreparable loss to the arts of the country.
The Prime Minister also prayed that Allah may rest the soul of the deceased in peace and grant patience to the bereaved family.
He further said that the Satara Imtiaz and the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance are recognition of his talent by the state.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also said that the legendary actor honed his skills through his acting in films, TV, stage and radio.
People still remember the versatile actor’s performance in Lakhin Mai Three and Andhera Ujjala.
