Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday visited Meta’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, where he launched the Facebook Stars feature for monetization in Pakistan.

The launch of the program will help empower young entrepreneurs as a valuable tool for the growing number of meta-content creators in Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari shared a video on Twitter in which he shared the news.

“Big news for Pakistan from Meta in Singapore. From now on, Pakistani creators on Facebook can monetize their content with the new Facebook Stars feature,” he tweeted.

“Delighted to be the first Pakistani official to visit META and share this news with you. Thank you Team META for inviting me,” he added.

On the occasion of a visit to the Meta office in Singapore, FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, “We are committed to supporting local businesses in Pakistan and opening various avenues for Pakistani content creators to generate meaningful, reliable income on their platforms. We are encouraged by META’s contribution. We hope that the Stars program will create new monetization opportunities and contribute to strengthening the country’s digital economy.”

Facebook Stars will allow fans to buy digital goods and send funds to creators, allowing Pakistani content creators to check their earnings according to content type, manage their goals, a Meta statement said. And will allow access to other Stars settings.

This feature is available on Facebook Live, Facebook Reels, Photos, On-Demand Videos and Text Posts.

“Helping creators build communities and turn their passions into careers is an important part of our continued investment in Pakistan,” said Jordy Forney, Meta’s Director of Emerging Markets for Asia Pacific. Happy to announce that Facebook Stars is open to all eligible creators in Pakistan, so more people can start earning while growing their creativity, audience and career.”

Meta introduced Reels, a TikTok-like short-form video feature, in Pakistan this year. It became the fastest growing content format on meta-platforms globally. More than 140 billion reels are processed every day on Facebook and Instagram.
