LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi on Tuesday sought a response to the petition filed by Farah Shahzadi alias Farah Gogi, in which the notice issued by the National Accountability Bureau for inquiry was cancelled. Judicial directions were sought for the declaration.
The petitioner also sought details of pending inquiries against him. Petitioner’s counsel Azhar Siddique told the court that NAB had issued a notice of inquiry regarding a housing society which had been shut down by the bureau in 2019.
The lawyer pleaded with the court that the inquiry has been restarted in view of personal interests.
The lawyer argued that according to the NAB rules, an inquiry cannot be initiated against a private person. He requested the court to declare the notice null and void. The bench adjourned the hearing of the case till May 22 after seeking reply from the concerned parties.
