Popular Pakistani singer Aima Baig has found herself embroiled in a controversy after the release of her new song Funkari, which she claimed was written by herself and Shakeel Sohail.
“It took us almost three years to make this song because I was too scared to release a solo single because I haven’t released a solo track since the beginning of my career and I’ve been working on it day and night. What happened?” he said while talking to a local media outlet.
“We started writing this song three years ago during Ramadan. It was Shakeel Bhai’s (Shakeel Sohail) last song Funkari which he wrote with me.
Shortly after her statement, singer Shiraz Uppal called out Baig for “misquoting” who wrote the song, saying it was only written by him.
“She forgot to give due credit which was already mentioned by Universal Music India on her YouTube credit,” Apple wrote on her Instagram account.
“Get your facts straight ma’am. Shakeel Sohail passed away 6 months before writing this song and the last time he collaborated with me was another single for you called Faraq Faraq. So artistically I Wrote, composed and produced and you just came. To sing it which took only 3 hours,” he said.
Earlier this week, Beg released a new song called Funkari that captures the essence of longing and feelings of emptiness.
The soul-stirring song not only captured the hearts of fans but was also trending on Twitter, which shows its immense popularity and widespread appreciation.
“I am overwhelmed by the incredible response the artist has received. The love and appreciation from my fans means the world to me. I am humbled to support them and create music that touches their hearts,” the singer said. I will keep trying.”
