General Bajwa, the US Defense Secretary, spoke on phone.

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and US Secretary of Defense General Lloyd James Austin had a telephonic conversation on Friday. During the call, matters of mutual interests, regional stability as well as defence and security cooperation were discussed.

The Defense Secretary expressed grief over the devastation caused by the unprecedented floods in Pakistan and offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. He offered full support to the people of Pakistan. He also appreciated the relief activities of the Pakistan Army in the flood-affected areas and pledged to play its role in increasing cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

Meanwhile, a US C-17 aircraft carrying humanitarian aid to flood-affected people arrived at PAF Base, Noor Khan on Friday. The aircraft was received by senior officials of Pakistan Air Force.

The US will fly several flights of life-saving humanitarian aid via airlift to Pakistan in the next few days to help flood-affected people.
