KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, on his first visit to Karachi after taking over the Army High Command, on Wednesday visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and paid homage to him. . Services Public Relations said in a statement.

According to the army’s media wing, the newly appointed COAS also laid floral wreaths and recited Fatiha at the Quaid’s mausoleum.

During his visit to the metropolitan, the Army Chief also visited the Corps Headquarters where he was briefed on operational, security and other formation matters, including assistance to the civil administration during the recent devastating floods in Sindh, especially its rural areas. .

The COAS commended the Army and Rangers for their services in operational preparedness and disaster relief and rehabilitation. He praised them for reaching out to the flood-affected population of Sindh during the unprecedented floods in the province.

The Army Chief appreciated the formation, allied organizations and law enforcement agencies for maintaining a safe and secure environment across the province, especially Karachi.

On the arrival of General Munir, Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Muhammad Saeed welcomed him.

This is COAS’s first visit to Karachi after his appointment as the country’s new army chief. General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa handed over the command of the army to General Asim in a ceremony held at General Headquarters Rawalpindi on November 29.
