Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday admitted that the law and order situation is not ideal but the province has been cleared of ‘no-go’ areas.
He said this on the floor of the Sindh Assembly on Monday in response to a question asked by Grand Democratic Alliance legislator Nand Kumar Gokalani. Gokalani questioned why the police failed in the operation against dacoits in the riverine areas of Kashmore, Ghotki and Shikarpur.
Did the police have no weapons? Were there political appointments in the police?
He added that the law and order situation in these areas was very bad and at least five officials were killed in Ghotki. He questioned why the paramilitary rangers were not called for the operation against the robbers.
In Kandhkot and Kashmore, the police itself is not safe, how can it keep the people safe, he asked while demanding an account of the annual budget of 120 billion rupees for law and order in the province.
He alleged that the police are busy giving protocols.
In response to a question, Shah said that when he was written off from Sukkur in 2007, he would need armed police and army troops to protect him.
Asked about the Ghotki incident where several policemen were shot dead while chasing robbers, he said the police had gone to rescue people kidnapped by the robbers when the officers were ambushed. was killed. He further said that the robbers involved in the attack were killed in the encounter.
He further said that the robbers who attacked the policemen in Shikarpur were also killed in the clash with the police.
He further said that during the last one year, law enforcement agencies have killed 23 dacoits in an encounter in Kashmore.
During 15 months in Shikarpur, 29 robbers were killed, 586 accused were arrested and 30 gangs were eliminated.
Stating that there is no “no-go” zone in the province today, he admitted that the law and order situation is not ideal, and that the law enforcement agencies have a lot to do to maintain peace in the province. Work has to be done.
Dissolution of Assemblies
Responding to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s move to dissolve the assemblies, Sindh Chief Minister said that there is no constitutional crisis in the country.
He said that if Imran Khan wants to dissolve the assemblies, he can, general elections will be held on time.
