Govt allowed National release of queer-themed Joyland after scrutiny.

The complaint review board against the film Joyland has decided to allow it to be released in Pakistan.

SAPM Salman Sufi shared this in a tweet after the board scrutinized the film’s content despite opposition from various sections of the society.

On Saturday, the government had banned the movie which was slated to be release on November 18.

After the strong reaction to this decision, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a high-level committee headed by Federal Minister Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to review the ban.

SAPM Salman Sufi announced through social media that a committee has been set up to review the ban on the first film directed by Saeem Sadiq.

On Tuesday, an eight-member committee met in Islamabad to review the complaints received against Joyland.

After thorough deliberation, it concluded that the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) should immediately conduct a full board review to take a final decision on its suitability for screening. could

SAPM tweeted that it is important not to speculate negatively about content without evidence.
