Green Line bus crash to saving child in Karachi

KARACHI: A Green Line bus in Karachi crashed into the footpath while trying to save a child who was wandering on the track.

In an accident that occurred at Nagan Chowrangi area of Karachi, the bus crashed into the girl while saving the child.

According to the rescuers at the scene, the front part of the bus was completely destroyed while several passengers came out from the windows of the bus.

The driver and several women in the bus were injured in the accident. This also disrupted the flow of traffic under the Nagan Chowrangi flyover.

The Green Line bus project in Karachi was announced in July 2014. On 26 February 2016, the foundation stone of the 17.8 km long track from Sarjani to Guru Mandir was laid. Each bus has a capacity of 200 to 250 passengers.

The Green Line bus service consists of hybrid buses plying a 22 km route from Sarjani to Municipal Park near Jama Cloth Market, with 23 stations per km.

The project was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Imran Khan on 10 December 2021 and the service started limited operations for citizens on 25 December 2021.

Passengers can avail this facility from 11 stations constructed at Sarjani, Abdullah Chowk, Du Minute Chowrangi, Power House, Nagan Chowrangi, Juma Bazaar, Hydari, Board Office, Nazimabad Number One, Sanitary Market and Nizam.
