The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is all set to resume the contempt of court case against PTI Chairman Imran Khan over his controversial remarks against a woman judge at a public rally today (Monday).

The former prime minister is facing contempt of court charges for his controversial remarks about judicial magistrate Zeba Chaudhry during a rally in Islamabad on August 20.

After the PTI chairman submitted another reply on Saturday, the court will decide in today’s hearing whether to file charges against Imran Khan or not.

A larger bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and Justice Babar Sattar headed by Chief Justice Athar Minullah of Islamabad High Court will hold the hearing again at 2:30 PM.

Imran Khan should avoid unconditional apology.
In a hearing on September 22, Khan had surprisingly apologized before the IHC and assured the bench that he would not issue such a statement again – leading the court to delay his indictment. .

However, Khan – for the third time – refrained from offering an unconditional apology in the contempt case as he submitted his reply to the IHC last week.

In his latest response, though noting that he had “crossed a red line in public speaking”, Khan was unable to apologize for his comments.

He said that he assured the court that he was ready to explain and explain to the lady judge that neither he nor his party had sought any action against him, and that he would “future “I will never do anything” that would offend the dignity of any court and the judiciary, especially the lower judiciary.

The PTI chairman added that he was ready to take any further steps that the IHC deemed necessary and that he never intended to interfere in the court process or undermine the dignity or independence of the judiciary.

The former chief executive said he stands by his September 22 statement and “once again assures this court that he will always abide by the aforesaid statement in full”.

Earlier, the former prime minister personally reached the court of Judge Zeba Chaudhry to apologize, but she was on leave that day.
