Helicopter crashes 2 dead, 4 injured on Pompano Beach, Florida

Two people have been confirmed dead and four others injured after a medical helicopter crashed from an apartment building in Pompano Beach, Florida, on Monday, officials said.

“At approximately 8:46 a.m., emergency crews responded to an aircraft alert call southwest of Pompano Beach Airpark. The helicopter involved in the crash is the BSO Fire Rescue Helicopter,” the Broward County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media. But wrote in a statement.

According to JEE News, one of the victims in Monday’s aviation incident was paramedic Capt. Terrison Jackson, while the other victim was inside her apartment, two anonymous law enforcement sources confirmed.

Broward County Sheriff Gregory Toney wrote on Facebook remembering Jackson as someone who “always provided expert care, compassion and reassurance during the most critical time of need.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jackson family during this difficult time,” Tony’s statement read. “We would like to posthumously promote Captain Terrison Jackson to the position of Battalion Chief.”

JEE News added that four others were injured, including two locals who reportedly tried to rescue the crew from the crashed helicopter.

According to JEE News, footage from local media showed multiple fire engines battling the blaze after the collision.

Additionally, police advised locals to stay away from the area and close nearby roads.

Before spinning out of control, the helicopter can be seen in the video leaving a trail of smoke as it passes over rooftops.

The Federal Aviation Administration said three people were on board the helicopter according to the manifest, but it was unclear who all those people were.
