If I regain power, I will not allow corruption in army, Imran Khan

LAHORE: Launching the election campaign on the occasion of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s 27th foundation day, PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday promised to invest in Pakistan when his party forms the government again. Will create a car-friendly country.

Addressing his supporters through video link on the occasion of the party’s 27th foundation day, Imran Khan said that the party will celebrate its next foundation day while in power. Chairman PTI said that no investor is willing to invest in Pakistan due to the corruption of mafias. He said that former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had given NRO to these corrupt leaders who had already caused a lot of damage to Pakistan.

He said that 0.9 million people, including professionals, left Pakistan due to the conditions created by the current rulers who themselves had obtained the NRO to protect the looted Rs 1100 billion. Imran Khan further said that when he founded Tehreek-e-Insaaf 27 years ago, his aim was to put the country on the path of justice like Britain.

Imran Khan gave the example of Britain and said that no one can even think of doing corruption because the system of this country has never encouraged this scourge. He said that the police of this country cannot even think of violating the law while here this force is used to target opponents. He said that a British police officer was suspended for using a baton against a dog, but here the local police are involved in cruelty.

He added that when PTI was started 27 years ago, people used to make fun of him and many people who were with him when it was started in 1996. In 1997 general elections, we could not win a single seat and in 2008, when PTI decided to boycott the elections, many people left it. He said PTI became a real game changer after 2010 when a large number of politicians called ‘electables’ got tired of supporting PMLN and PPP and supported PTI. .

In the 2013 general elections, Imran said that PTI won a good number of seats but the then establishment rigged the elections in favor of PMLN. He further said that PTI strongly protested and demanded a review of results of four NA constituencies which were delayed and proved to be rigged.

He said that such injustice is impossible in Britain and said that Western countries are ahead of us only because of justice. PTI Chairman said that Pakistan can develop only if justice is provided to the people and this was the foundation of PTI 27 years ago.

Imran urged his supporters to defeat the mafias who looted the national wealth. He said that the country can develop only when investors and businessmen spend their capital without fear. He said that PTI will ensure favorable environment for investment.

Imran also praised the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for taking a tough stand and praised his critics. He said that Nawaz Sharif left the country whenever there was a fear of his corruption being traced, whether it was the era of Pervez Musharraf or PTI. Imran Khan urged his supporters to defeat the corrupt elements with the power of vote.

The PTI chairman said that it was his right to lodge an FIR against him but it was not done. He said he knew the three men who attacked him and the role of an officer in the incident.

On the issue of rigging, Imran said that the PTI had passed the Electronic Voting Machines Bill but the new government repealed the bill as it could not afford fair elections.

Meanwhile, while talking to a group of journalists, PTI chief Imran Khan said that if he comes to power, he will not allow corruption in the army.
