A day ago, the Supreme Court ordered the IG Punjab to file an FIR as per law and submit a report within 24 hours.

A notification has been issued by the head of the Anti-Terrorism Court, Khurram Khan, in which it is said that a three-member special prosecution team has been formed to investigate the murder case of the former prime minister.

The Committee will “give line of inquiry to the Investigating Officer/JIT (Joint Investigation Team), provide guidance for collection of relevant admissible evidence and remand the accused before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). ” said in the notification.

He added that the panel would also conduct the prosecution on behalf of the state before the court.

‘No Rule of Law’

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain complained about the lack of “rule of law” and “powerful groups holding the country’s political and judicial system hostage”.

This comment of the former minister came when he expressed his disappointment over the FIR registered against the attack on former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Wazirabad.

Further criticizing the political system in the country, Fawad said that when Narendra Modi says that he does not understand who to talk to in Pakistan, we have no answer.

He noted that the Pakistan Army was a national power. However, the people are now “an organized force under the leadership of Imran Khan”.

He asserted that justice will be sought in the cases of Arshad Sharif, Azam Swati and the Wazirabad attack.

In another tweet, PTI leader Shafqat Mehmood also expressed his displeasure over the FIR not being registered “as per the demand of the complainant”.

He said it was a “complete distortion of the law”, adding that it was “unacceptable”. The former education minister demanded the Supreme Court (SC) to take notice of it.

“Our entire legal framework has been turned upside down by this one act,” Mahmood said.

Zubair Niazi, a relative of Imran Khan and General Secretary of PTI Lahore Chapter, has asked the Station House Officer (SHO) concerned to file an FIR against Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Major General Faisal Naseer. A complaint was filed before as suspects in a failed assassination attempt by Imran.

However, the FIR has been registered on the complaint of a sub-inspector of police and the three senior officials cited by the PTI chief have not been named in the case.

Police Asked to Clear Roads Leading to Airport

The Federal Police wrote a letter to the Interior Secretary and the Chief Commissioner seeking permission to clear the M1 and M2 motorways leading to Islamabad Airport. Due to the protest of PTI supporters, passengers arriving at the Islamabad International Airport had to face severe difficulties due to the closure of the route.

In their letter, the police said that the airport is an important facility and the roads leading to it are of utmost importance. It said that Articles 97/149 and Article 151 of the Constitution guarantee the security of the airport and its routes.

The letter said that Islamabad Airport and its routes are administratively within the boundaries of Punjab and all important officials travel through these roads. Any untoward incident at the airport could bring the country into disrepute, he added.

According to the letter, obstructions on Thalian and Peshawar Motorways are also causing problems.

It further said that the Islamabad Police should be given full powers and ordered to clear the roads. Moreover, constitutionally, clear instructions should be given to Chief Secretary Punjab and Police Chief.

All provinces should be told to give access to three toll plazas.
