The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Sunday accepted the pre-arrest bail application filed by former Prime Minister Ad Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the case of threatening a female judge.

On Sunday, Imran’s lawyer Babar Awan filed an application in the court for pre-arrest bail.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani held a hearing in the chamber in which he granted Imran’s interim bail.

During the proceedings, Babar Awan told the court that the purpose of the case against Imran is to arrest him and the arrest is to hinder his peaceful struggle.

He further said that the federal government created a false case for its nefarious purposes.

However, the court said that the arrest warrant issued against him was a routine procedure to make him appear before the court in the case as he had skipped the previous hearing.

Reiterating the direction to Imran to appear before the concerned court on October 7, the court granted the request and directed the police not to arrest the former prime minister.

The court also ordered Imran Khan to submit a surety bond of Rs 10,000.

A day earlier, on August 20, an arrest warrant was issued in Margalla police station in the case of violation of Section 144 and threatening a woman judge.

The First Information Report (FIR) against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief in the case includes sections 504 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

In this regard, Islamabad Police said on its official Twitter handle that Imran Khan did not appear in the court in the previous hearing and a warrant was issued to ensure his presence in the next proceedings of the case.

The Federal Police said that the court had directed to remove the provisions related to terrorism from the case, after which the case was transferred to the session court.

The former prime minister did not get bail from the sessions court and warned that he may be arrested if he does not appear in the sessions court.
