ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has suspended the notification of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declaring NA 246 Lyari vacant on the petition of PTI Member National Assembly Shakur Shad.
The ECP declared the seat vacant after National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf accepted the resignations of 11 PTI MNAs.
However, Shakur Shad later approached the court and pleaded that he did not submit his resignation personally but it was sent on behalf of the party which he submitted to the then Prime Minister Imran Khan as an expression of solidarity. what was
The IHC today directed PTI MNA Shakur Shad to join the proceedings of the National Assembly and issued a notice to the Speaker and the National Assembly Secretariat for his reply on the matter.
It should be noted that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed the scheduled by-elections in 13 constituencies.
The ECP took this decision in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sultan Sikandar Raja regarding the organization of by-elections.
It has been decided that the by-elections on September 11, September 25 and October 2 will be postponed and the new dates will be announced soon. The Election Commission says that the by-election was postponed due to devastating rains and floods.
