Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday granted bail to human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari and Pashtun Protection Movement (PTM) leader Ali Wazir in a sedition case related to a controversial speech against state institutions. Accepted.

ATC judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain heard the application and granted post-arrest bail to Imaan and Wazir on sureties of Rs 30,000 each.

Both were arrested on August 20 and sent to physical remand after they were accused of making a controversial speech at a PTM public meeting.

After the PTM rally in the federal capital on August 19, two First Information Reports (FIRs) were lodged against Imaan and the minister at Tarnool Police Station and Counter Terrorism Department Police Station.

Both were booked on charges of sedition, obstructing government officials from performing their duties and damaging public property.

Regarding maintaining the law and order situation during the PTM rally, the SHO said that he was present along with other policemen at Tarnool Phatak Chowk at 5 pm on Friday, when the rally – its NOC In violation of – started moving beyond the allotted space. to him

He said rally participants armed with sticks clashed with the police when law enforcers tried to stop the rally. Read the FIR, when the police stopped, the crowd blocked both the lanes of GT Road.

When the PTM leaders and supporters were asked to open the road, they attacked the police and threatened dire consequences and damaged vehicles and vandalized nearby shops, the SHO said.

The Second FIR was registered under PPC Sections 124A (sedition), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 149 (every member of an unlawful assembly guilty of the offense of prosecuting public objection).
