LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday announced that miscreants involved in attacks on military installations and civilian property during the May 9 violent protests will be tried in military courts and Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATC) respectively. .

He alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was the mastermind behind the May 9 attacks on military installations including Jinnah House, Lahore [Corps Commander’s House].
The Prime Minister said that May 9 will always be remembered as a dark day in the history of Pakistan. He said that the rioters became enemies of the country and attacked GHQ.
He said that on the same day miscreants also set Jinnah House and government property on fire. Shahbaz Sharif said that those involved in the attack on military installations will also be brought to book.
Birting Khan, the Prime Minister said: “May 9 was the darkest day in Pakistan’s history when miscreants led by PTI Chairman Imran Khan Niazi set fire to the Quaid (Corps Commander) House in Lahore as terrorists Quaid’s residence was set on fire in Ziarat in 2013.
He further said that the PTI chief and his followers instigated terrorism and violence which amounted to anti-state activities. They have caused so much damage that even Pakistan’s enemies could not do in the last 75 years. The Prime Minister said that such painful incidents will always haunt the nation.
In the meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the progress on the implementation of the decisions taken in the meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) held last week was also reviewed. Demanding progress on legal action against the culprits, the Prime Minister reiterated that it was decided in the previous meetings that anyone involved in planning, incitement, sloganeering and vandalism would face the iron claws of the law.
Earlier, Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif had said that the attack on GHQ during the violent protests of May 9 was among India’s anti-Pakistan objectives. Addressing a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz rally in Sialkot to show solidarity with the armed forces, Asif said, “The very existence of Pakistan was attacked on May 9.
