LAHORE: In an unusual move, PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Friday invited the PDM-led government to discuss the possibility of early general elections as if the assemblies in two provinces were dissolved, Pakistan’s About 66 percent will have to vote for the by-election.

“Give us a date for the elections or we will dissolve the KP and the Punjab Assemblies,” Khan said in a video address to the PTI’s Punjab Parliamentary Party from his Lahore residence in Zaman Park.

We have the full support of Muslim League (Q), Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi will dissolve the provincial assembly on my call.

He said that PTI’s demand for early general elections is part and parcel of PTI’s commitment to support the country’s economy as the party’s full focus is on bringing Pakistan back on its feet.

Khan said that the whole world is saying that “Pakistan is fast moving towards default”. Remittances have begun to dwindle, tax collections are dwindling, risks of default are mounting, while Ishaq Dar sits quietly in a corner.

He said that economic stability is linked to political stability and there is no other way.

“No elections, no political stability in the country,” Khan declared, adding that the coalition government was not ready to consider snap polls because they knew they would be wiped out.

Khan – who ended his long march to Islamabad last week – had announced to walk out of assemblies across the country, including in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

According to PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry, the party leadership has approved the dissolution of the Assemblies of the two provinces, but the final decision will be taken after further consultation.
