ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has once again admitted to losing the cipher, saying that he does not remember where he kept it.

According to JEE News, the ousted prime minister – who was ousted after a no-confidence motion in April last year – was answering questions during interrogation by a three-member team of the federal investigation agency in Attock jail. FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, headed by Deputy Director Ayaz Khan.

The investigation team questioned Khan in the missing cipher case, sources said, adding that the PTI chief patiently cooperated during the hour-long enquiry. However, he denied that the paper he waved at a public gathering last year was a cipher.

“The paper I referred to in public was the minutes of the Cabinet meeting, not the cipher,” the former prime minister claimed.

According to sources, he added that as the Prime Minister, it was his right to keep the document but could not answer why he disclosed it to the public.

“This was, perhaps, the last session of investigation into the cipher issue,” the source said, adding that those investigating the case would begin mutual meetings to arrive at a conclusion.

Sources said that the investigation into the cipher issue will be completed next week and the challan will be submitted to the court.

Meanwhile, Khan challenged the rejection of nine of his bail pleas in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday. After his bail pleas were rejected in incidents like the May 9 riots, attacks on the judicial complex and fake accounts, he filed nine petitions in the IHC through his lawyer Salman Safdar.

Six of these applications were rejected by the Sessions Court, while three were rejected by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). In the petitions filed in the IHC, PTI’s counsel pleaded that the decisions rejecting the bail pleas should be quashed.

Further, the counsel sought a direction from the IHC to restrain the trial courts from reviewing the cases on their merits and restraining the police from arresting the PTI chairman in connection with the nine cases.

Khan had earlier approached the Supreme Court with a petition against IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq. The petition, filed on their behalf by their lawyer Latif Khosa, invoked Article 186-A and sought transfer of their cases from the IHC to the Lahore or Peshawar High Courts.

On the other hand, FIA registered a case against PTI leaders for allegedly running false campaigns against state institutions on social media.

FIA Cybercrime Circle has arrested former Finance Minister Hamad Azhar, Musrat Jamshed Cheema, former Deputy Speaker of National Assembly Qasim Suri, former Punjab Governor Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Senator Azam Swati, Tehreek-e-Pakistan Ali Zaidi and former senior deputy of PTI. Filed a case against the president. President Fawad Chaudhry.

The named accused were called by the agency for investigation but none of them joined the investigation. The agency then conducted its own investigation. Sources claimed that the FIA found enough evidence during the inquiry after which a case was registered against them.
