Case has been registered against Imran Khan for taking prohibited funds
On Tuesday, the FIA registered a case against Khan at the FIA’s Banking Circle police station for his alleged involvement in prohibited funding. In the FIR, the federal agency alleged that Abraaj Group transferred $2,100,000 to PTI’s account at the bank’s branch on Jinnah Avenue in Islamabad. The Abraaj Group was a private equity firm, operating across six continents, which is currently in liquidation due to allegations of fraud.Besides, the party received further funding from two bank accounts of Wootton Cricket Club, read the FIR.
The FIA said the manager of the private bank assisted the agency in investigating the questionable transactions.Apart from Khan, Sardar Azhar Tariq, Tariq Shafi and Younis Amir Kayani have also been named in the FIR. FIA said that the affidavit submitted by businessman Arif Naqvi in ECP is also false.
The FIR also states that the manager of the same bank branch was also named in the case. It added that there were 12 currency transaction reports and suspicious transaction reports which the bank officials were supposed to report to the concerned authorities but failed to do so.The FIR alleged that the operations manager of the branch also failed to report these illegal transactions to the concerned authorities.
