Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Imran Khan called on President Dr Arif Alvi to ‘act now’ and stop misuse of powers as well as violation of laws and constitution.

In a letter to the President on Sunday, the former prime minister said that since the fall of the PTI government, the country has been “facing an increasing scale of false accusations, harassment, arrests and custodial violence”.

He alleged that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had given him “repeated death threats” and that he was informed of an assassination plot by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and a senior military official. was

“This plot was executed during our long march earlier this week but Allah saved me and the assassination attempt failed,” he said.

Imran requested that as Pakistan’s head of state and supreme commander of the armed forces under Article 243 (2) of the constitution, President Alvi should take notice of “serious lapses affecting the national security of Pakistan”.

He further asked Alvi to lead the investigation to identify the culprits and hold them accountable.

In a three-point list, he highlighted “mistakes”.

First, he maintained that “the Official Secrets Act was violated when [a] secret conversation between [a] Prime Minister, the COAS [Chief of the Armed Forces] and another military official was leaked to the media. done

He claimed that this “raised a very serious question as to who or what organization was involved in the apparently illegal wiretapping of the prime minister’s secure phone line”, adding that the incident had drawn national attention at the highest level. There is a security breach.

In his second point, he said that the issue of the cipher “was sent by our ambassador to the United States in which the American official informed our envoy of a direct threat of a change of regime, which he communicated to him.” given as it was delivered”.

He added that the National Security Council meeting during his tenure as prime minister “clearly decided that this is unacceptable interference in our internal affairs and the NSC has instructed the US envoy in Islamabad to Decided on the demarche issued by the Foreign Office”.

Imran added that the NSC decision was “confirmed by the NSC meeting held under the Shahbaz Sharif government”.

“In view of this, a joint press conference of DGISI and DGISPR on 27 October 2022 contradicted the decision of the NSC under the former two governments and stated that the US Govt. The message was delivered by our envoy. The cipher in Washington DC was not an unacceptable intrusion into our internal affairs but merely a matter of ‘mischief’.

He questioned how two army officials could “publicly oppose the decision of the NSC” and pointed out that “these army bureaucrats are deliberately trying to create a false narrative towards the serious issue”. .

According to the PTI chief, two other questions that should be investigated were “how the head of Pakistan’s main intelligence agency can hold a public press conference”; and “How can two military bureaucrats hold a highly political press conference targeting the leader of Pakistan’s largest and perhaps only federal political party today”.

Finally, Imran said “the parameters of a military intelligence agency like ISPR also need to be clearly defined and limited to information related to defense and military affairs”.

He called on President Alvi “as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces” to start “developing these clear operational lines for the ISPR”.

Imran said he and the president led Pakistan and Alvi “must protect its democracy and its constitution”.

He said that no person or state institution can be above the law.

The ousted prime minister reiterated that the country was witnessing “massive abuses of citizens by rogue elements within state organizations, including custodial torture and abductions”, which he claimed were “regrettable”. Done with”.

Imran concluded by saying, “You hold the highest office in the state and I request you to act now to stop the abuse of power and violations of our laws and constitution, which every citizen should do.” ensures the fundamental rights of.
