TikTok celebrated the end of the year with community, creativity and self-expression at its annual TikTok 2022 event – a spectacular spectacle held in Lahore.
The short video sharing platform celebrated its creator community in Pakistan, the top videos and trends of the year with its year-end creator awards and exciting performances.
Earlier in December last year, TikTok shared the top trends and creators in Pakistan and around the world in its annual report – ‘The Year on TikTok 2022’.
During the event, the platform celebrated some of the most inspiring creators across 11 categories including entertainment, lifestyle and sports, as well as awarding Creator of the Year.
These creators were recognized for their ability to engage with audiences and create cultural movements that began on video sharing platforms before moving into the physical world and impacting the real world.
Guests at the event were treated to performances by content creators Tahir Abbas, Hareem Rashid, and Daniya Kanwal who are known for their content on the social media application.
The event also featured a musical performance by TikTok creator Abdul Hanan, whose songs are the most popular tracks of the year on the app in Pakistan.
“We are filled with pride as we celebrate our community that has been a driving force behind some of the most exciting trends in 2022. From sharing innovative ideas to turning their passions into successful careers, our community members have made incredible contributions. Confidence has demonstrated flexibility and creativity,” said Tariq Abdullah, regional general manager of TikTok, Middle East, Turkey, Africa, Pakistan and South Asia.
He added that it was inspiring for him to see how video sharing platforms have enabled everyone to come together and experience a sense of joy, connection and belonging.
“We are proud to be a part of this journey and look forward to seeing what the future holds for our community,” he said.
