Pakistan were fifth in the ODI rankings before the start of the five-match series with a rating of 106, but have won four consecutive matches against New Zealand, who were second before the series began in Rawalpindi last month.

Babar’s men now top the ODI team charts with 113.483 rating points, followed by Australia on 113.286 and India on 112.638. If they win the 5th ODI and sweep the series, they will further cement their place.
The ICC’s official ODI ranking system was introduced in 2005 and since then, Pakistan’s previous best position was third.
The ICC classification method was developed by renowned statistician David Candix. The formula was also applied retrospectively to determine the position of teams before the rankings were officially launched.
According to the retrospective application of Kendix’s formula in historical position, Pakistan was last in the ODI rankings in August 1991. However, this historical classification has no official status.
