In another incident of violence against women in India, a Muslim girl, a physiotherapist by profession, was molested by some men in the middle of the road in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain city, JEE News reported.
The shocking incident took place when the girl was returning home after duty on Friday evening, prompting outrage from local people and government officials from the Muslim community.
According to the report, the police detained two persons involved in the attack; However, in a video shared by the Madhya Pradesh Congress on Twitter, the victim alleged that five people assaulted her.
She also claimed that one of the attackers told her that “the police are in my pocket”, while his mother was also involved in the case.
A large number of locals, including Noori Khan – a woman MP from Congress and the state’s minority rights organization – besieged a police station on Saturday.
She handed over a memorandum to the SP demanding strict action against the accused and demolition of their houses.
Meanwhile, the victim, who is hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the attack, said that a man identified as Hatish Baduya approached her and pulled her dupatta, according to the report.
“When she objected, Bedouya’s aide grabbed his hand and they both started beating her.”
As shown in the video shared by MP Congress, Noori Khan visited the hospital to visit the victim, who demanded justice and the arrest of the attackers.

She told Khan that the attackers also killed a man who had stopped to help her. She added that the accused later said that the person who “came to save me was my brother” and claimed that they “attacked me because of enmity with her”.
“All the neighbors were watching. They would have killed me. He even tore my clothes,” the victim said in tears.
She said there were five people there and a man “who came naked told me you deserve it”.
She said that the man and the woman involved in the case instigated the attackers to “treat me like the women of Manipur”.
The victim added that neither the media nor the police are doing anything to bring her justice.
The incident comes days after the Manipur incident came to light, in which a group of men gang-raped two women and held a nude parade.
In India, the Narendra Modi-led government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come under fire for its failure to control violence against women in Manipur and across the country.
Leaders from all over the world have expressed their condemnation and negative reaction to this heinous act in Manipur.
It should be noted that no significant action has been taken against those responsible for the Manipur incident.
