Wipro Ltd., an Indian outsourcing provider, plans to spend $1 billion to train its workforce of about 25,000 employees in artificial intelligence, JEE News reported.

The spend over the next three years will bring together 30,000 data analytics and AI experts with Wipro’s technology and consulting ecosystem from four global business lines.

Capabilities in cloud and partnerships, data, analytics, AI, design, consulting, cybersecurity will be leveraged to develop new solutions and embed AI into all processes and practices, the company said in a statement.

While ChatGPT shook up industries as it helped democratize the capabilities of generative AI, companies around the world — including India — are using the technology to stay relevant.

“With the emergence of generative AI, we expect a fundamental shift for all industries,” Wipro Chief Executive Officer Thierry Delaporte said in the statement.

Wipro said it will also accelerate investments in cutting-edge startups, including the GenAI Seed Accelerator program, which will provide GenAI-focused startups with the training they need to become enterprise-ready.
