ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said on Friday that the main reason for the inflation storm is the increase in oil and gas prices.
Fawad Chaudhry said in a statement that the back of the middle class is broken (due to inflation), they cannot pay for electricity.
He said that Pakistan will benefit from the agreement with Russia. He said that if the government had accepted the Russian government’s offer earlier, oil and gas would have been cheaper and we would not have had to face inflation. He further said that the government has wasted six months.
The PTI leader said that he supports every initiative of the government which will benefit the country.
Economic indicators of Pakistan are very alarming. There should be a stable government that focuses on the country’s economy,” he said, adding that the PTI was getting stronger and stronger with each passing day.
Fawad said that by amending the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law, relief is being given to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Maryam Nawaz.
He said that the last days of the government are going on. He said that the government ran away from the election, as the people have decided. He said that the government is nowhere to be seen.
The former information minister said that the government is being brazen but we will fix it.
He said that Tehreek-e-Insaf will hold another public meeting in Charsadda on Saturday and Chakwal on Monday. While he said that the core committee meeting of PTI will be held on Saturday.
K-Electric and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) have signed an agreement regarding tax collection in the form of “KMC Charges” or “Municipal Tax”.
A monthly municipal tax of Rs 50 has been imposed on consumption of 200 units of electricity, Rs 150 on consumption of 200 to 700 units and Rs 200 on consumption of more than 700 units.
On the other hand, commercial and industrial customers will have to pay Rs 200 per month as municipal tax. Sources familiar with the matter said that tax will also be collected for using more than one electricity meter.
At least 24 lakh people will have to pay municipal tax in Karachi. According to the agreement reached with KMC, the people of Karachi will spend Rs 250 million to pay the newly imposed tax.
