ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has accelerated consultations for the formation of an interim cabinet, sources told JEE News on Tuesday.
Sources added that the caretaker prime minister has decided to form a small cabinet and personally review the profiles of all potential candidates.
According to the sources, the caretaker prime minister told his friends that I do not want to put more burden on the country suffering from economic problems.
PM Kakar further unequivocally wished that his protocol be kept to a minimum, adding that he did not want to incur unnecessary expenses or inconvenience people.
Sources also said that names of caretaker ministers are being considered, including former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, former civil servant Shoaib Siddal, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Ahsan Bhawan, former senator Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti. , former IG Police and well-known police officials are included. Besides, former Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani is likely to be given the portfolio of the Ministry of Information.
A day earlier, Kakar – a former senator and leader of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) – was sworn in as Pakistan’s eighth caretaker prime minister to see the country through general elections that are due in months.
Sources told JEE News on Monday that Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister (PSPM) Dr. Syed Toqeer Hussain Shah, former advisor to the Prime Minister Ahad Cheema and Joint Secretary Mohib Ali have been retained by the caretaker prime minister.
Meanwhile, sources have revealed that Arshad Munir Khan, promoted in Grade 21, will be posted as Principal Information Officer (PIO).
The Prime Minister’s Military Secretary (MS) Brigadier Tajdeed Mumtaz will also continue to perform his duties in his current administrative position.
Sources said that deliberations for the caretaker federal cabinet will begin today, which is likely to be announced later this week.
