In a statement, the interior minister said that the statements of the journalists present at the spot made the incident suspicious and the person who pushed the slain reporter should be arrested.
He said that if the Punjab government does not take action on this incident, the federal government will fulfill its responsibility.
The journalist was associated with a local television channel, Channel 5. She was covering PTI’s long march that was going around Punjab for the last three days.
Eyewitnesses said that Naeem boarded the container to interview senior PTI leaders including party chief Imran.
She reportedly lost her balance and fell as she swooped over the crowded container to reach the party chief.
In the late afternoon, lost in the dust and crowd raised by the truck, she disappeared under the wheels of the container and was crushed to death.
