Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has added another feather in her cap as she will be directing the new Star Wars film.
The film, written by Damon Lindelof, will be Sherman’s second Hollywood film after Ms. Marvel.
Insiders told Deadline that the film is still in the writing stage and production is definitely far off.
However, sources said Damon Lindelof wanted a director for it so that he could tweak the professional script a bit with new ideas or just add some flavor to the vision.
The film is being billed as the first big screen release for a Lucasfilm since 2019’s Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s notable works include the Oscar-winning documentary shorts Saving Face, A Girl in the River and The Price of Forgiveness.
He is also behind the camera work on several episodes of Disney’s hit series Miss Marvel.
