The Islamabad District Bar Association on Sunday criticized PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s behavior towards Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and announced a protest in solidarity with the judge.

The association said the PTI chief staged a “drama” in the guise of apologizing to Judge Chaudhry’s court, adding that his act was an attempt to harass the judge. The body also submitted a resolution against the former prime minister and condemned his actions.

“On the day Imran Khan was on leave, he went to the court of the lady judge. The PTI chief asked the stenographer and reader to convey his message to the judge, and thus committed another contempt of court,” the association said.

The body said that the PTI chief had threatened the lady judge during his public address, adding that he had not yet submitted an apology letter to the Islamabad High Court.

Like all constitutional institutions, Imran Khan also wants the judiciary to function according to his wishes. He wants to pressurize the judiciary to get relief for him,” the association said. The resolution demanded that legal action be taken against Khan for the rule of law in the country.

Imran Khan appeared in the court of a female judge.
On Friday, the PTI chairman appeared in the court of Judge Zeba Chaudhry, the lady judge he allegedly threatened at a public rally, to apologize.

Upon Khan’s arrival in the court, the police closed the door of Zeba Chaudhry’s courtroom.

Imran Khan told the court reader that I have come to apologize to Judicial Magistrate Zeba Chaudhry.

He asked Qari to be a witness for Chaudhry’s court appearance to apologize, as the judge himself was on leave.

“You have to tell Madam Zeba Chaudhry that Imran Khan came and he wants to apologize if any of his words hurt her feelings,” he told Reader.

The PTI chairman left the court after a brief conversation.

A case was registered against Khan for threatening Judicial Magistrate Zeba Chaudhry and police officers at a rally at F-9 Park on August 20 for “terrorizing” police officials and the judiciary.

The FIR stated that its main objective was to prevent police officers and the judiciary from discharging their legal responsibilities. The FIR was registered under Section 7 of the ATA on the complaint of Magistrate Ali Javed at Margalla Police Station in Islamabad.

However, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected the terrorism charges and on September 19 directed the case to be transferred to the concerned court under the remaining sections in the FIR.

The court remarked that, “Judicially, not a single section contained in the case is applicable [to Imran Khan’s speech].”

On September 22, during the contempt of court hearing at the IHC, Khan requested the court to personally apologize to Judge Zeba Chaudhry.
