British actor Julian Sands went missing last week after hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains.
A 65-year-old man was reported missing in the Baldy Bowl area Friday during severe weather in Southern California.
Police said ground rescue teams were pulled from the mountain late last week because of the avalanche danger, but searches by drones and helicopters continued.
Mr. Sands is known for his roles in popular movies and TV dramas including A Room With A View, 24 and Smallville.
In a statement shared with JEE News, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Mr. Sands was reported missing on Friday, January 13 at approximately 19:30 local time.
It added that the department’s search and rescue crews “responded and began a search”, but were hampered by severe weather warnings and trail conditions.
“However, we continue to search by helicopter and drone when weather permits,” the statement said.
Police added that the ground search will be scheduled when the weather improves and conditions are safe for rescue personnel.
The force said it had responded to 14 calls in the past four weeks on Mount San Antonio, known locally as Mount Baldy, and the surrounding area, and warned hikers. That they “think twice and heed the warnings”.
Mr. Sands has lived in Los Angeles since 2020 and most recently appeared in the drama Benediction, which also starred Peter Capaldi.
