KARACHI: A judicial magistrate of Karachi’s Malir district on Thursday granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Ali Zaidi in the fraud case after the parties reached an “out-of-court settlement”.
Ali Zaidi was produced in the court on completion of his three-day physical remand, after which his bail was granted.
At the start of the hearing, the magistrate asked the authorities what interrogations they had conducted during the three days Zaidi was in their custody.
The investigating officer told the court that he tried to trace the accused who were allegedly involved with Zaidi in the fraud case.
The court asked the police officer where the progress report is. To which, the police officer replied that he had forgotten to attach the report.
“Did the police torture you?” the court asked Zaidi.
The PTI leader replied, “I was not ill-treated by the police. At this point, his lawyer also intervened and said that his client’s detention was “illegal” as per the situation described by the police. Is.
The court rejected the inquiry officer’s request to extend physical remand and sent Zaidi to judicial remand.
As soon as the court approved the judicial remand, Zaidi’s lawyer filed a bail application in the court.
The court granted bail against a surety bond of Rs 10,000 after the complainant’s lawyer Kamran Baloch told the court that they had reached an “out-of-court settlement”.
Bail not granted on merit
Baloch later told the media that Zaidi was released on humanitarian grounds but granted bail on “merit”.
Ali Zaidi’s bail was granted due to an out-of-court settlement. Some issues have been settled between the complainant and Zaidi and other issues will be settled after (Zadi’s) release,” Baloch said.
‘dangerous case’
Speaking to the media in the court, Zaidi claimed that a “dangerous case” had been registered against him.
“A case was filed against me by a person who doesn’t even know who he is. It is also not clear whether the complainant is alive or not but a case has been registered,” Zaidi said.
Zaidi arrested in Karachi
Last week, Zaidi was arrested in the metropolis for “cheating”.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Zaidi was arrested on charges of “cheating and threatening”. A case was registered in Ibrahim Haidari police station of the city on behalf of a citizen named Fazal Elahi.
He was produced in court on Monday and sent to jail on three-day police remand.
