KARACHI: A major fire that broke out in a commercial high-rise on Shaara Faisal near a nursery was brought under control after hours of efforts on Friday.
Dozens of people trapped in the building were rescued and no casualties were reported in the incident.
The fire broke out in a 12-storey building containing about 15 offices and quickly engulfed the entire building.
The fire department dispatched a fire engine, but given the intensity of the fire, more fires broke out. Yesterday, three fire engines and a snorkel brought the fire under control by 11.20 am.
Officials of the fire brigade department said that the cooling process is going on.
Last month, at least one person was injured and several others were evacuated after a massive fire broke out in a multi-storey building near a nursery on Shaara Faisal.
The fire, which fire tenders described as a third-degree blaze, broke out in a billboard atop the building — which houses several offices, fire department officials said — and engulfed the entire building. took
Responding to calls for help, 13 fire tenders rushed to the scene to douse the Category III fire in the building, which was located next to a petrol pump.
Firozabad police station SHO Inam Juneju said that on receiving the information, he reached the spot with his staff and called the fire brigade and rescue services to reach the property.
He has said that the officials of K Electric and other companies also arrived and disconnected the electricity and gas connections.
Two snorkels also took part in the intensive firefighting efforts.
SHO Junejo said that during the operation they rescued the people inside the building. However, during the process, a person jumped from the first floor of the building and sustained injuries.
