ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs 1.55 per unit for K Electric customers in terms of quarterly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for July-September 2022.
Karachiites will be charged an additional amount of Rs 1.5547 in the next three months from May to July 2023 — based on the electricity units consumed in July, August and September last year.
The regulator’s decision came with the Schedule of Tariff (SoT), where all categories of electricity consumers including residential, commercial, time of use (TOU) consumers, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS), general services, industrial sector, single point. Residential colonies connected with supply, agricultural tube wells, street lights and industrial premises will be charged an additional Rs 1.5547 per unit in these three months.
However, Lifeline customers consuming less than 100 units per month will be exempted from this burden.
Nepra has issued this decision on a motion submitted by the federal government regarding the recommendation of end-user tariff for electricity.
In practice, the government maintains a uniform tariff across the country, and the difference is usually adjusted through subsidies.
Hence Ministry of Power has requested quarterly adjustment on KE consumers as applicable to XWDISCOs.
The Federal Government filed an application under Sections 7 and 31 of the Nepra Act, 1997 read with Rule 17 of the Nepra Tariff (Standards and Procedures) Rules, 1998, for quarterly adjustment on KE customers applicable to XWDISCOs. Is.

The ministry said that the federal government is providing subsidy of about 150 billion rupees to K Electric during this year.
