Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has demanded the resignation of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) saying that the top judge has become controversial.

Advocate Zar Badshah Khan said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan has failed to fulfill his duties as the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council. He urged the government to file a reference against Justice Bandyal in the SJC to restore public confidence in the higher judiciary, adding that the KP Bar Council was committed to ensuring the independence of the judiciary.
He said that not appointing the judges of Peshawar High Court to the Supreme Court is a serious injustice to the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
