LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition challenging the suspension of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, saying it had no jurisdiction to hear the case.

At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabbir inquired whether the High Court has the right to look into the order of suspension.

However, Duggar’s lawyer said his client was targeted because he had initiated legal proceedings against a federal minister. He further said that it is important to protect the right of civil servant in the matter of two governments.

But the court once again asked the lawyer that the matter falls within the purview of the Supreme Court and asked how the High Court could hear the case.

On this, the lawyer told the judge that the court can review the case.

On which the lawyer of the federal government intervened and said that suspension orders were issued by CCPO Dogar for not reporting to the federal government within three days.

The petitioner’s counsel asked whether there was any reason written in the suspension order.

Justice Shabbir then intervened and observed that the court’s objection was how the High Court had jurisdiction to hear the case. He then further held that the case was beyond the jurisdiction of the court and disposed of the case as the petition was inadmissible.

CCPO to Drop Charge Immediately: Tarar
Soon after the verdict, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar tweeted that the police force is not responsible for following the orders of CCPO Dogar and he should step down immediately.

“All orders issued by him will be illegal. Punjab Police, which is an organized force, should not be made a Tiger Force. It is not Imran Khan’s personal power to do whatever he says. A suspended officer cannot wear uniform, charge. Will have to leave,” Tarr said.

Duggar’s plea
CCPO Dogar, at the center of a tussle between the federal and provincial governments, had approached the Lahore High Court against his suspension.

In his petition, Dogar had alleged that the federal government was targeting him for registering terrorism cases against two federal ministers at Lahore’s Greentown police station.

He had approached the court seeking cancellation of the federal government’s suspension and transfer notification.

On October 28, the Center through a letter directed the CCPO Lahore to report to the Establishment Division within three days. However, Punjab refused to transfer their services to the federal government.

According to the letter, the Chief Minister of the province wanted to keep Pervez Elahi Dogar in the province to celebrate the ongoing long march of PTI, the arrival of Sikh pilgrims from India through the Wagah border to celebrate the 100-year celebrations of Saka Panja Sahib. Security arrangements can be ensured during the ongoing long march. And Tablighi Jamaat gathering.

After the provincial government refused, the federal government on November 5 suspended the officer once again, this time for allegedly “failing” to protect the Punjab Governor’s House.

The Establishment Division of the Government has issued a notification suspending 21 grade officers of the Police Service.

“Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, a BS-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan currently serving under the Government of Punjab, is suspended with immediate effect and till further orders,” the notification issued by the Establishment Division said. has been done.”

The development comes a day after PTI supporters staged a violent protest outside the Governor House in Lahore against the attack on party chairman Imran Khan.
