LHC has sought answers from govt and police in cases against Qureshi.

Lahore (Special Correspondent) Justice Ali Baqir Najafi of Lahore High Court has asked the caretaker Punjab government and police to respond by June 6 on the request of Mehr Bano Qureshi, daughter of PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The petition sought information about the cases against her father and requested the court to restrain the police from arresting her in any future case. The petitioner’s counsel told the court that the police had arrested several PTI leaders, including Meher Bano Qureshi’s father, on various charges after the May 9 riot incident.

The lawyer requested the court to restrain the police from arresting Shah Mehmood Qureshi in any known or unknown case registered after May 9. In another matter, Justice Farooq Haider adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by former federal minister Umar Ayub Khan. Cases registered against him. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the police were harassing him and his family members under the influence of the government and implicating him in politically motivated cases. As neither the petitioner nor his lawyer appeared in court on Monday, the judge adjourned the case till June 6.
