PTI leader Babar Awan on Saturday criticized the PML-N-led government and said that loans worth billions of rupees were waived through six amendments in the NAB law.

Addressing a news conference at KP Islamabad House, the PTI leader said accountability was not across the board as 95 cases were disposed of.

He said that the cases that were disposed of did not involve any patwari or clerk but big criminals.

He further said that Rs 2400 billion was waived through NRO-2.

Awan said that the NAB amendment will be applicable from January 1, 1985, adding that all offenses prior to that period have been abolished.

He said that according to the NAB amendment, the assets of the accused’s family members will not be counted as theirs.

“Through this amendment [in the NAB Act] a person can commit corruption and open an account in the name of his family members [and deposit money in it].

He said that the country’s economy is collapsing and those countries are now reluctant to give loans to Pakistan.

On Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s claim that Rs 20 billion has been distributed among the flood victims, Awan said that the government should provide the details of the amount spent.
