Maria B is overjoyed after the Punjab government banned Joyland, a day after Pakistan’s censor board approved the film’s release on November 18.
As soon as the news broke, the Pakistani fashion designer took to his Instagram story to praise the Punjab government for the ban, saying, “Joyland movie Pakistan banned till further notice! What a rollercoaster… Punjab Govt!!! You guys rock!!!”

He also thanked the government and added that the decision would give “hope for the future of our children”.

Pakistan’s Censor Board on Wednesday gave the green signal for Saeem Sadiq’s film to be released in theaters following a review by a committee ordered by the prime minister, allowing local screening only after the board cut parts of the film. gave
The fashion designer had earlier expressed her disappointment over her release on her IG story.
In the caption, he wrote, “Congratulations Pakistan. Joyland is being released. Our first official transgender film.
“At least they cut off some parts… May Allah help us and forgive us.”

For the uninitiated, Joyland made its debut at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and won the Jury Prize.
Meanwhile, the film will be Pakistan’s first official entry at the Oscars next year.
