The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday that Pakistan Women’s National Cricket Team head coach Mark Coles has resigned due to personal reasons.
PCB said in a press release that Coles will not be available with the women’s team for the upcoming white-ball series against South Africa, which is scheduled to begin on September 1 in Karachi.
Having previously served as the head coach of the women’s team from 2017 to 2019, Coles was reappointed to the position in April this year.
“The PCB would like to thank Mark Coles for his brief stint with the women’s team and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” the PCB said.
He further announced that a replacement for Coles would be announced “in due course”.
After the South Africa series, the Pakistan women’s team will participate in the Asian Games in China.
The Pakistan women’s team will be looking to complete a hat-trick of gold medals at the Asian Games after bagging the top prize in the last two editions held in Guangzhou, China in 2010 and Incheon, South Korea in 2014.
As per ICC T20I ranking and tournament regulations, Pakistan Women’s team will participate in the event from September 22 to 24 quarter finals.
The semi-finals will be held on September 25. Meanwhile, the final and bronze medal match will be held on September 26.
